Tisane Hair Rinse

Herbal hair rinses are the way to go if you’re looking for the pinnacle of natural hair care! While they aren’t a replacement for sudsy shampoos or cationic conditioners, herbal hair rinses are a fantastic addition to your hair routine. Whether as a final rinse after your wash, or a between-wash pick-me-up, the right mix of herbs can work wonders for your hair.

Herbilis offers a number of tisanes* to use for your hair rinse – “Soft & Shiny” to condition your hair & help with combing, “Long & Strong” to fortify your strands and stimulate your scalp and “Scalp Care” to help calm a tricky scalp.

How to Prepare your Hair Rinse

Steep 1-2 Tablespoons of your dried herbs in 300-600mL of boiling water (if your hair is long or you plan to use it on dry hair, you may need more). Leave the herbs to brew until the water is tepid to cool (1-4 hours). DO NOT use the tisane while hot!

Strain the mixture (Herbilis has a number of infusers or pots to make it easy for you, or use a sieve). If desired, add 1 Tbsp of apple cider vinegar. Your tisane rinse is now ready to use.

If you have longer hair, first dip your ends in the mixture before you pour. Slowly pour the mixture over your head and hair – if you do this over a bowl you can catch the excess mixture and re-pour it for better coverage. Alternatively use an applicator bottle or spray bottle to help distribute the mixture. Massage it into your scalp and “squish” through your hair.

You then have a few options – rinse after a few minutes, tuck into a shower cap and relax for 30 mins before rinsing or leave it in your hair.

You can use your herbal hair rinse as often as you like – though regular use is recommended as the benefits build up, especially if you’re using herbs to accent your hair colour.
